A Leap Forward: 2016 Year-in-Review

With groundbreaking innovation comes obstacles. Despite the unexpected challenges we faced this year, the Faraday Future team has stayed steadfast in our determination to redefine electric mobility. Our remarkable pool of cross-industry global talent – and their incomparable personal drive – has allowed us to achieve a number of unprecedented accomplishments in 2016. This has been a truly incredible year, as seen by the milestones below – and we are just getting started.

The Unveiling | 01.04.16

We introduced the FFZERO1 Concept in Las Vegas at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Named to 26 “Best of CES” lists by top-tier media, our FFZERO1’s bold design ignited conversation around the unbound potential of the future of electric vehicles. We were also honored to receive five CES “Top Pick” or “Best Car” awards by Digital Trends, Mashable, PC Magazine, Tom’s Guide, and alphr for our first-ever concept vehicle, which cemented Faraday Future as a brand to watch in the coming year.

The First Patent | 03.01.16

In March, we earned our first patent: the FF Echelon Inverter. This uniquely efficient inverter design showcased our company’s elegant, imaginative approach to applied engineering. As one of many technological achievements we’re proud of, our inverter was the first earned of hundreds filed in 2016.

The Title Sponsorship | 03.26.2016

We title sponsored Formula E’s 2016 Faraday Future Long Beach ePrix race. Beyond its heated competition and breakneck entertainment, Formula E serves as a unique platform to showcase electric powertrain capability and innovative sustainability. It was an honor to support it.

The Groundbreaking Ceremony | 04.13.16

In April, we celebrated the groundbreaking of our manufacturing facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Once completed, this factory is expected to be one of the largest buildings in the world, in usable space by volume.

The World Tour | 04.25.16

The FFZERO1 toured the globe, making stops at the Beijing Auto Show and the 2016 Faraday Future Long Beach ePrix. Reinforcing our presence in the premium EV space, the world-travelling concept car was an ever-present reminder of our continued momentum.

The License | 06.24.16

We received our Autonomous Vehicle Testing (AVT) Permit in June, allowing us to begin testing our self-driving technologies on California public roads. This was critical for our continued R&D, as we could now test driving software, hardware, sensors, and user interfaces in real-world environments.

The Competitive Partnership | 07.01.16

We joined Dragon Racing as title sponsor and core technical partner to form the Faraday Future Dragon Racing Formula E race team. Working alongside industry pioneer Jay Penske, we continue to bolster the race team’s powertrain performance with our proprietary knowledge and patented technologies.

The Hiring Milestone | 09.19.16

In September, Faraday Future hired its 1,000th US employee. In just one year, the company has grown from 400 global team members to more than 1,400 worldwide. In Los Angeles alone, more than 30 different countries and 60 unique languages are represented. This multi-cultural diversity in background and expertise has helped us grow into a globally-minded organization.

The Engineering Alliance | 10.03.16

In October, we announced our partnership with LG Chem, the leading battery system manufacturer, to supply the lithium-ion cells for our forthcoming product’s electric powertrain. LG Chem especially tailored battery cell chemistry to optimize the range and safety potential of our battery hardware. Together, we’re pushing what’s possible in EV energy storage.

The First Race | 10.09.16

Our Formula E racing team, Faraday Future Dragon Racing (FFDR) competed in its first race in the 2016 Hong Kong ePrix. Coming off the unveiling of its impactful “Polarity” livery design, our vehicles made a confident debut on the city’s serpentine harbor streets.

The Acceleration Test | 11.22.16

To test the acceleration limits of our powertrain and software technology, we pitted our prototype vehicle head-to-head against a Ferrari 488 GTB, a Bentley Bentayga, a Tesla Model X P100D, and a Model S P100D. The results spoke for themselves.

The Way Forward | 01.03.17

We are moments away from revealing our first true foray into electric mobility. On January 3 at CES 2017, we will show the world what we’ve been steadfastly preparing for. It’s been a remarkable year – but, we cannot wait for what 2017 has in store.
