Your Role:
The Production Planning Director will lead and oversee production planning within the manufacturing department, with a focus on process planning, equipment selection, factory layout design, and overall production capacity management. This role entails strategic planning for plant layouts, process flows, and resource allocation to ensure that manufacturing operations align with the company’s production goals while maintaining quality standards and adhering to budget constraints.
Responsibilities:
· Strategic Production Planning:
o Develop and implement comprehensive production planning strategies that align with company goals and market demands.
o Analyze production capacity and develop forecasts to ensure optimal resource allocation.
· Process and Equipment Planning:
o Evaluate and design manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
o Collaborate with engineering teams to select and implement appropriate equipment and technology to meet production requirements.
o Ensure that all processes are compliant with safety regulations and industry standards.
· Plant and Factory Planning:
o Oversee the design and layout of manufacturing facilities, ensuring optimal workflow and space utilization.
o Plan for future plant expansions or relocations based on production forecasts and business growth.
o Coordinate with facilities management to ensure that all equipment is maintained and operational.
· Collaboration and Cross-Functional Leadership:
o Lead cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and supply chain, to optimize the production process.
o Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
· Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
o Establish KPIs to monitor production performance and efficiency.
o Prepare and present regular reports on production status, equipment performance, and process improvements to senior management.
· Budgeting and Cost Control:
o Develop and manage budgets for production planning and equipment purchases.
o Identify cost-saving opportunities through process improvements and equipment optimization.
· Supply Chain Coordination:
o Work closely with the supply chain team to ensure timely availability of materials and components for production.
o Implement inventory management strategies to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
· Training and Development:
o Lead training programs for production planning and process optimization for team members.
o Mentor and develop staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in production planning and manufacturing processes.
Required skills and qualifications:
Education:
o A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required.
o An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
Experience:
o At least 15 years of experience in production planning or operations management, preferably in a car manufacturing environment.
o Proven experience in process optimization, equipment planning, and plant layout design.
Skills:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
o Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
o Proficiency in production planning software (e.g., ERP systems like SAP, Oracle) and data analysis tools.
o Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and reporting.
Technical Knowledge:
o Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
o Familiarity with manufacturing technologies and equipment relevant to the industry.
Annual Salary Range:
($145,000 - $195,000 DOE), plus benefits and incentive plans
